River Guardianship Symposium 2022: A Community Conversation about Green and Blue Trails in Central Texas
Join us for an evening of community camaraderie where we will celebrate the growth of the Great Springs Project regional trail system and engage in a conversation with diverse stakeholders about a single-use disposable container ban for the San Marcos River.
The event will feature exhibitor booths from community programs and environmental interests, live music, and light refreshments.
Our social platform is designed to serve as a catalyst for community engagement for the protection and preservation of the San Marcos River. Our aim is to help broaden awareness and to increase participation through special event activity.
River Guardianship
The Mermaid Round-Up
September 25th, 2022
The culmination of the Mermaid Capital of Texas Fest is Mermaid's Society's annual river cleanup event that takes place on Sunday, the last day of the festival. The Mermaid Round-Up is a “call to action” and serves as a first step for community members to be introduced or “re-introduced” to riverbank and park cleanup efforts. This family-friendly event is designed to inspire youth to model our Aqua Superhero, the San Marcos Mermaid, to be river guardians for the San Marcos River.
Participants will be joined by both enthusiasts and experts in the field and learn about the many opportunities to be involved with river protection throughout the year.
